8th Annual International Congress

May 16-21, 2010 Stowe, Vermont USA

Welcome to the 8th International AMN Congress

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MARCH 15, 2010 !!!

FEBRUARY 2, 2010 UPDATE

Dear Colleagues from Many Fields,

On behalf of members, organizers, and sponsors, it is my honor and pleasure to invite you to the 8th Annual International Congress of the Academy for Multidisciplinary Neurotraumatology (AMN). Stowe, Vermont USA welcomes you from May 18-21, 2010 to share research, best practices, and experiences focused on:

Child, adolescent, and young adult victims of accidents, violence, and war.

What a relevant topic for these times as the youngest among us—along with families, friends, and advocates, cope with brain and spinal cord trauma. In our Congress, we unite around a common belief that only together—across miles and cultures, we discover new ways to improve the lives of those impacted by traumatic brain (TBI) and spinal cord injuries (SCI).

We invite allied professionals from medical and non-medical disciplines to participate fully in workshops and the scientific program (click for recommended attendee list).

Monday and Tuesday, pre-Congress multidisciplinary workshops cover TBI and SCI basics and strategies to care for persons with those conditions.

We are pleased to announce workshops on memory deficits and executive functioning issues, both led by the renown Dr. Barbara Wilson.  Dr. Matt Gammons, physician for the US Snowboard and US Ski teams, will lead another on sports concussions.  Come to share your work, research, and perspectives, as well as to listen and learn.

The main scientific events (Wednesday to Friday) will be held in a variety of formats—lectures, round table discussions, panel discussions, poster presentations, and oral slide presentations with discussions and led by top experts.  Plus, Dr. Michael Thaut will lead a symposium on Music Therapy entitled From Neuromusicology to Neurologic Music Therapy--Neuroscientific Foundations and Clinical Applications.

Explore the region and taking advantage of what Vermont offers on your own or with a guided tour. On Thursday evening we sail and dine on Lake Champlain to the live Celtic music of Gypsy Reel. On Wednesday evening, we host the international release of an elegant, cathartic film on the Nickel Mines killings of Amish schoolgirls, co-produced by Ken Burns' associate, Dr. Robert Sargent Fay.

AMN invites you to share your work and your vision on what the world might be. See you in May 2010 in Stowe.

Sincerely,

  • David Mulholland
